The applied bioinformatics group has extended research experience and interests from crop genomes to metagenomics. This research is supported by an ARC linkage project titled 'next-generation metagenomics', in collaboration with Biomatters Ltd (NZ).
Our aim is to develop strategic collaborations where we apply our experience in second generation genomics and bioinformatics, together with partner experience in specific biological environments to answer tightly defined biological questions.
Initial collaborations include:
Bovine rumen and marsupial gut metagenomics, in collaboration with Prof Mark Morrison (CSIRO).
Coral Black Band Disease metagenomics, in collaboration with Dr David Bourne (AIMS).
