My research interests are in metagenomics and organismal genomics. I also have interests in evolutionary and population genomics. During doctoral studies at the University of Oxford, I investigated the genetics of human susceptibility to tuberculosis and malaria.

I am currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the School of Land, Crop and Food Sciences,University of Queensland, Australia, working on bioinformatics and metagenomics.

More specifically, I am interested in:

*Identification and characterisation of repetitive elements in genomes

*Phylogeny and evolution of transposable elements in the Brassicaceae

*Coral metagenomics

*Canola-associated soil metagenomics

*Host-pathogen co-evolution in blackleg disease (a fungal disease of canola and other land crops)

*Host-pathogen co-evolution in tuberculosis

*The genomics of longevity in Teleosts
